Project report – Catchment analysis

Cathchment analysis constitutes an important section of the Project report of a new start up non profit organization.

This section involves  presenting the demographicmpsychographic and behavioral aspects of the people of the location where the non profit organization proposes to operate.

An analysis of these aspects helps the organization to decide the program strucutres to suit the local tastes and preferances, there by maximising the impact of the prorams undertaken by the organization.

“About {Location} – Our Primary catchment

{Location} is one of the improtant cities in the state of {State, Country}.  It has a population of 1.1 million (as per 2001 census) and ranks 28th among the 35 million-plus cities in the country. {Location} is a major industrial center of the country. It houses numerous well known companies like A, B, C, D and many more. It is also home to the one of the largest Industrial Belts of the country known as PPP which houses more than 800 small and medium scale Industries.

The population is cosmopolitan in nature owing to migration of people from all over the country to work in the numerous industries present in the city. A significant part of the population also comprises of native tribal and other ethno-religious groups.

The conversational language is {}. However several native languages like S and H are also spoken in some parts of the city.

Demography   {Location} had a population of 1,134,788 (2001 census) and ranks 28th among the 35 million-plus cities in the country. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. {Location} has an average literacy rate of 83%, higher than the national average of 59.5%. The percentage of youth population (15-35 years) in {Location} is estimated at 41% of the total population. It’s important to mention here that 22% of young people in the age group of 15-19 are illiterate while 23.77% in the age group of 20 -24 are illiterate. These facts are quoted just to bring out the limitless possibilities and scope of working with the youth of {Location}.

Target Population:
The youth of {Location} are expected to be the direct beneficiaries from the school clubs and the youth resource centers. However indirectly this is also expected to benefit the caring parents, educators and the city as a whole. The industries in and around the city also need positive workforce and will also benefit by gaining access to better human  resources and a peaceful and a dynamic work environment.

Through this project we intend to work primarily with school-going students in the age group of 13-16 years from urban, rural and semi-urban government-run educational institutions. We are also keen to work with non school going adolescents and young people from villages and town.
